Even at its huge depth and quite a weight I will consider carrying it into the field on appropriate 'flower based days'.

A great book as are all Collin's guides and very, very reccommended for all botanists beginner or expert. This is quite a thick heavy book so we usually leave this one at home for reference use rather than for field use.

This has been my main botanical reference book for 8 years of working as an ecologist, carrying out a variety of botanical surveys. I could not find any information in the introduction about the changes made from the original version, but the illustrations appear to be unchanged, and most of the species accounts seem to be the same or have only minor changes.

Where the names differ from those in the first edition they are added in parentheses following the new name for reference.
